CBD Frequently Asked Questions:
What is CBD?
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound from the Cannabis sativa plant, which is also known as marijuana or hemp. Hemp plants can be “bred” to have more or less of the various chemical compounds found in the plant. For example, hemp grown for its medical benefits will often be bred to have a higher presence of CBD and a lower presence of THC (the chemical compound that gives marijuana its psychotropic effects).

What can CBD help with?
CBD can help with a variety of ailments such as anxiety, arthritis, joint pain, inflammation, seizures, and more! CBD ca be used daily for constant relief from anxiety or joint pain, or as needed for more circumstantial relief from firework or car ride anxiety, or pain after an injury.

How much CBD should I give my pet?
The average dose for pets is usually around 1mg of CBD per 10lbs of body weight. Each CBD product’s dosage will vary depending of the concentration of the CBD oil and the way it is administered (cookie, dropper, tablet, etc.). Each individual pet is different and may need more or less than the recommended serving of CBD. Start with a low dosage and slowly build up. Remember: Your pet will not overdose on CBD. If it seems like you are having to give large doses, try looking for a product with a higher concentration of CBD.

Should I give my pet CBD with food?
Yes and no. Some studies have shown that when CBD is given with a full meal, it is harder for the CBD to be absorbed by the body, making it less effective. CBD should be given at least an hour before or an hour after your pet’s meal. If you must use food to administer CBD, mixing it in with a small amount of canned food, peanut butter, pureed pumpkin, etc. that you know they will eat all of is best. Otherwise, CBD treats should be given as is and CBD oils should be dropped into to back of your pet’s cheek, no directly down their throat.

How do I get my pet to take CBD?
CBD treats should be given as is and CBD oils should be dropped into to back of your pet’s cheek, no directly down their throat, to prevent choking. If you must use food to administer CBD, mixing it in with a small amount of canned food, peanut butter, pureed pumpkin, etc. that you know they will eat all of is best.

How long does it take for CBD to work?
The activation time of CBD depends on the pet. For some it is as soon as 45 minutes, for others it could take up to an hour and half or more. If after about an hour you don’t notice any change in your pet, try giving them a second dose of half the recommended amount.

Will CBD get my dog “high”?
CBD is derived from hemp and is “bred” for it’s medicinal benefits, not psychotropic. In fact, THC (the psychotropic component of Marijuana) can be toxic to pets. CBD products for pets have nearly untraceable quantities of THC, making them healthy and beneficial for our furry friends!

Can my pet overdose on CBD?
Nope! Even if your pet eats ALL of their CBD goodies in one sitting, they will only take a nice, long nap and may have some loose stools the next day.

What is the difference between Hemp Seed Oil and Hemp Oil / CBD?
In short, Hemp Seed Oil comes from the seeds of the hemp plant while Hemp Oil/CBD comes from the plant’s stalks, leaves, and flowers. Hemp Seed Oil does not contain CBD, but it does contain a wide variety of nutrients, fatty acids, and bioactive compounds that can also have health benefits. Hemp Oil is made up of similar nutrients, fatty acids, and compounds, but also include varying levels of CBD depending on the strain of hemp that each CBD brand uses in their finished product.
